Homestead-Miami Speedway was constructed with the efforts of Ralph Sanchez, as part of a plan to help Homestead rebound after the devastation caused by Hurricane Andrew. Groundbreaking began August 24, 1993, 1 day before I smeared cake in my face. Anyway, Homestead-Miami Speedway opened in 1995 with a NASCAR Busch Series race, the last race of the season. In 1995, my brother came along and he has been a nut ever since.
